Aimed at 18-30 year olds, but suitable for all. The Interior is decorated with Grafitti and a mish mash of cat ornaments and irregular tables (we sat at a old school desk once) with a lower and upper level and plenty of room for large parties. Gourmet American foods like wings and cheese burgers are available and they have their own signature “Crack sauce” (that I would get with everything). The Chilli Cheese Fries have to be tasted to be believed. Also an enormous selection of whiskeys and a damn fine selection of beers, not to mention their now (in)famous teapot cocktails!
They now have an entrance on Royal Avenue and a massive beer garden, what more could you want? Oh ok, how about amazing wings and their own craft beer. With an apothecary feel and bags of character this is a nice place to take a load off for an hour before returning to the hustle and bustle of a career in shopping.
If you like a bit of rock n roll between buying shampoo in boots and bra’s in Primark then this is your place. A wild west saloon meets a New Orleans Voodoo shop, this is an intimate bar where you can sit by the window and watch the world go by. They have a decent selection of beers and usually a few offers on both food and drink.
Kellys Cellars
Located just down the side street of Tesco and across the road from the award winning Mourne Seafood restaurant, this is a great spot for some more traditional Norn Irish boozing. Expect low ceilings, Irish music and the best hot toddy in Belfast city centre!
The new kid on the block, but the one that everyone’s talking about. An ode to the original Harp Bar that was recently featured in the “Good Vibrations” film. The Harp bar has music on 7 nights week and the interior is very decadent indeed. There’s loads of room and the staff are always friendly, this is probably a good place to finish off for the day. Just don’t forget to take all your shopping bags with you when you leave!
